Kiwi ingenuity and Philippine perseverance keep Xena tracking to Miri....

PF comment: Weather here.  Iris report below:
As of Noon Today [3 Feb]:

Position 2 deg 49min  North.  110deg  34min  East.

[PF comment: about 255NM to Miri, see map, left]
25knots..3metre breaking Sea.
Yesterday ran into problems:

Contaminated Diesel in Both Main Engine and Generator.

Stopped at sea and drained both Fuel System on Main Engine and Generator and put New Filters in Both.

Not sure whether Bad fuel is from Yacht Haven or whether had dirt in bottom of Starboard Fuel Tank.

Midnight last night Noel relieved Grant on Watch..approximately  3/4hr  later Grant woken by Engine Alarm.

Immediately Shut everything down and waited for first light this morning to dive to clear salt water intake.

Both Impellars in the Main Engine and Generator were damaged and we have spent this morning Replacing.

Now also discover that the Top of the Exhaust Sump where the Manifold drains into ..  before being forced up in the Exhaust System and out of Boat .. the Top has Dislodged itself.
(Looks like a Bad Sealant Job originally).

Now trying to do some sort of Temporary Repair  to allow us to use Motor when necessary.

Grant presently looking at options .. but you can be assured he will sort something.."Good ole Kiwi Ingenuity"

Just to add Insult to Injury .. the new Wind Speed and Direction Instruments have stopped working.

Onboard Healthwise .. All Good.

Next Report .. Alls Will Be Well.

Cheers   Iris

  1. About 168 NM to go to Miri as of this noon position, with Xena tracking close to shore. ETA therefore around 5th, assuming engine issues sorted and/or favourable breezes.

Current breezes right on the nose, 20-25knts.

Winds easing from 20-25knt, to more northerly in next day or so.
