Bacon and eggs in Victoria Harbour -- Labuan's, *not* Hong Kong's! Now for the repairs....

Report from Iris:

Heavy Rain.
Arrived Victoria Harbour Labuan - midnight last night.
[5 deg 16.12N, 115 deg 14.32E]
Water Calm and Flat.
Anchored outside Marina Hotel..he [Grant] was looking over to Hotel where we stayed both times for Borneo Yacht Regatta.
PF: that's the Marina Hotel in the photo above -- pretty flash, Iris!

The Boyz cooking sausages and eggs for Breakfast.  I was relieved anchored  safely..I asked after logs which we always encountered..Grant said after Kuching went 30 miles off the Coast to avoid..good choice..no logs.

Plan is:
Try to sort parts for Motor and Generator.
Repair Both.
Re-provision and re-fuel before heading off en-route to Phillipines.

He will phone you [Roger] to explain:
(5 inch Hose from Manifold Engine passes into a large fibre-glass Sump before being forced up through that Sump into the Exhaust Pipe and out of the Boat).

This Sump top broke off..looks like poor cementing job originally.

Huge Ship Repair Industry  in Labuan..so best opportunities of getting parts they need..rather than Kotakinabalu.
Map from "How Labuan was Lost", Daily Brunei Resources,

[Iris]: Out the door again - back for evening ceremony at Waitangi Treaty Celebrations.

Cheers for now   Iris

  1. Cheers to Grant, Noel, Mike: have a good rest guys, you need it!

Re the exhaust sump issue, I rang Roger yesterday and he's awaiting call direct from Grant to discuss fix.

Meantime, seems like there's good local boat repair industry, so cross fingers can be sorted there.

    Cheers,
    Peter

  2. From Roger, SMS: (emailed to Iris/Grant):

“This is the exhaust muffler. Could be GRP repaired, make a new one from stainless or find replacement, Vetus, or Halyard Marine, or X-Yachts supply.”
