Xena passage report from Iris

Report in from Iris 29 Jan, 11:20 UT:
Hi Peter and Jing
I hope this email finds you both well and happy in Hong Kong.

I spoke with Grant briefly 15 minutes ago..Saturday 29th Jan..1600hrs his end [09:00 UT] ..coverage not the best.  [Click on "Read more" for the rest....]

Right now they're going through Singapore. Pouring down..lots of rain and traffic.

They will continue on through the night..check out Sth China Sea and make Decision then..as to which route.

Big breeze and rain storms out of Phuket 35+.

Good breeze to Langkawi.

Pankor..big rope round propeller 2 a.m. Dive under to free..no damage to propeller.

Auto Pilot..all Good. [...]

Shan't be too long and "Xena" will be safely delivered home to her Marina Berth in H.K.

That was 1st call from Grant.
If and when he calls again..I can pass on any messages from you Peter.
On the deep blue..out of coverage for emails..until they stop wherever to fuel and provisions.

60n mile Yacht Race to Whangaroa which is further North, was postponed today 29th.. as Cyclone hit us  severely during the night..lo and behold this morning Glorious.

Mixed Pairs Opening at Golf..gals get to play with guys..Charlie and I good score for 3rd place.  Tomorrow golfing again..so better get some Rest..also relaying as always the positive vibes to Grant the Boyz and "Xena".

Love to you Both
Iris and the Animals xx

  1. Email to Iris from PF:
Thanks Iris, good to hear the news and that all well. And also that the autopilot is working well!...

We had a couple of rope issues ourselves on night trip to Similans and back as well, bit bits stuck on the keel, once on the prop. Glad this one didn’t do damage this time..

Pretty breezy, huh! I checked out the Passage weather, and seems like going East to Miri will be more with the breeze. [...].

Looking forward to more reports. I’ll also post to the Blog when I get them [...]. The audience is mostly just us, and some family, friends, and some King’s Cup crew..

Glad all well with you and the animals!

Cheers from Peter and the dogs....

  2. PS: Grant's basic plan for return is:

Phuket > Miri (N. Sarawak) > Busuanga (NE Palawan) > Subic Bay > HK.

May change depending on winds, as ever....

  3. We tried to post something yesterday but being Luddites it hasn't quite worked! Wishing Grant and Xena a safe passage home.
