Xena Cruising Phuket, Similan, and other islands...

Great news: old school chum (Canberra Grammar, '67) Barry Faux ("Baz") & partner Therezia from Oz, and Peter & Eva Honeyman from Israel, will join us in our cruise ex Phuket starting this Saturday 8th.  We're much looking forward to that.
Below some email corro with Baz on the likely itinerary for the cruise.  Of course, detail will change as the wind takes us....

H Baz, Great news!
Yes, planning to eat on board, though we have dinghy and will also go ashore here and there.  No need to bring much, just swimmers.
Our flights are: Arrive Phuket 11:35 on Saturday 8th, leave Sunday 16th Jan 12:30.
We’ll spend Sat arvo just provisioning and relaxing, overnight at Yacht Haven then head off next morning.
I’m looking at an itinerary now, though it’ll be up to us where we go each day.  There are plenty of islands to visit around Phuket.
I’m thinking we go to Chalong Bay on day one (about a 4-5 hour sail), anchor overnight, have dinner at a great restaurant there which we know.
Then round to Kata beach for the next day (that’s where we were for King’s Cup and we know it well), lunch at the Boathouse.  Foot massage.  Thai massage.  Get yourself new suit made by Jo-Jo...
Leave Kata around mid-night for Similans: the Pilot recommends that, in order to arrive in the morning, before all the dive boats, and that would be a nice overnight sail, around 60 miles.  Then back to Phuket and to other islands, like Phi-Phi (the island in the movie “The Beach”).  You can google any of these.
I’ll have the Thailand Pilot book, for us to decide our itinerary in detail at the time.
There’s a great archipelago in Burma (Myanmar), just up the road, but that’s one for next year — 400 islands, mostly unspoiled and uninhabited...  Our sailing mate Bart Kimman, who owns Asia Yachting Services, says he can get us all the permissions, so put it in your diary!   Their boat, Miss Salona 2, is currently in Yacht Haven and will stay there, so we might even do some cruising in tandem with them, which would be fun.
Weather: check out wind guru for Phuket.  Sunday East/ENE 6-15 knots, good for reaching down the coast.  Air temp: 28, Water: 28....
Cheers and see you soon!

It'll be good to get away from "frigid" Hong Kong -- hey folks, it's just 12 degrees today, windy and overcast!

Sounds like a pleasant cruise you have lined up there, maybe take in Ko Racha on the way back.

    HI Peter,
Sounds great and hope you both have a fantastic time. Got to catch up once you are back to hear about the trip.
I am sure you will enjoy Phuket even more being out on the water.
For me I am off now to Zhengzhou and my factory. Not as much fun as being in Phuket!
    cheers
