Class 40 rockets

I've always liked these Class 40s. They're real off-the-wind rockets, speeds in the high teens.  They won't rate under IRC, have to be in One-Class, like the US and Europe, so I guess we'll never see them here.  Pity 'dat.
Here the are at the Atlantic Cup.
And at Owen Clark Design

  1. Thanks for info on the 40's.
Horses for Courses. It's like our yacht "Titan" only 7.5metres less than 400kg but beats 13metre yachts around the course and "Bare Essentials" that we won Whangaroa and the NZ to Vanuatu Race on, 55ft but only 4000kg.
All about the weight to power ratio .. if you can keep them on their feet they will certainly go fast.
"Titan" often achieves 20knts off the wind and my top speed in "Bare Essentials" is 28.3knts.
    Grant...
