Oh what a glorious day

Xena in centre, Race 6, S. Islands course, leading the fleet.  Click to enlarge.

This is a stunning photo.  Clear day, lovely breezes 15-18 knots.  Koh Samui so clear in the background under perfect tropical clouds.
The Island course took us south past the reef and bottom mark, back through a gate to the finish.  We led start to finish on the water and took a 5th on corrected time, when the storm -- about 20 minutes after this photo -- overtook the backmarkers and brought them to finish with 35+ knots of breeze.

Another nice one, the A2 in full flight, finishing the W/L course, Race Five.
Baby Tonga is the kite with big circle on it.  Bit too close....

  1. From Grant on Xena11:51 today:
Morning Peter, Thanks for the update.
Frustrating day yesterday with my friend Fisher Panda..............generator from Hell !!
Finally found electrical short inside the starter motor, most lkely winding. Not sure why or how ??
Have told Noel to remove when we are back in HK, pull apart to investigate.
Nothing more to be done out here, need proper tools..........vice etc.
Have told Fisher Panda we will win in the end, so just delaying the inevitable..........She didn't respond.

Did you see the full moon last night ? [was lunar eclipse, longest this century]
We just off Nga Trang, clear sky.........like daylight. Then about 2am slowly go darker and darker until moon eclipsed. Full moon back around 4.30am. awsome !!

Yes moving along again today. 22knt t from 240m. "Xena" has the bit between her teeth 8 to 8.5 SOG.

If we keep this pace up should arrive HK early Monday.........clear in Mon afternoon.

Will try to get date change to earlier flight, maybe Tuesday. At present booked to fly 27th.

    Cheers, for now Grant.

    Earlier from PF to Xena
    Hi Grant and boyz,
You’re scooting along again. PW has you doing 8.7 SOG!
Next few days general picture is:
    Winds
Generally W backing S in range 10-15 knots for today
Friday: backing S and lighter (maybe short gusty period to 25 knots S-W)
    Saturday: confused, light around Paracels
Sunday: steadier Southerly flow settling in to 15 knots.
Monday: as you approach HK, S-ish <15 knots.

Waves: to <2 m for the period, direction S.

Rain: seems nothing much for period, maybe patches as approach HK.

    Hi to all,
    Peter
